Dana Marshall, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Owner and HR Consultant

Background

Dana has over 25 years of management and consulting experience in Organizational Development and Human Resources Management.  She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM).

Dana has managed both generalist and specialist Human Resource functions, both in Silicon Valley high-tech companies and companies of various size and industry on the Monterey Peninsula. She has experience with both start-up and well established organizations, and with large and small teams.  Dana has been successful managing her own consulting business. Some of her previous employers and clients include Netscape Communications, America Online, Shop.com, Loudcloud Inc., Portal Software, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Rabobank, the Sunset Center in Carmel, Monterey Regional Water Pollution Control Agency, and Fenton & Keller law firm.

Dana's proven consulting skills have benefited management teams on a variety of human resource issues, including development goals and strategies to achieve business objectives, conducting formal needs assessments of orgainzations, and designing and facilitating management teambuilding programs and employee assimilation programs.  She also has experience in designing, developing and delivering a wide variety of management training programs aimed at developing effective leaders while minimizing risk to the organization.  Dana has coached and counseled scores of managers on effective employee relations techniques to help reduce turnover, limit liability, and effectively meet mandated state and federal employment regulatory compliance.

Areas of expertise

  • Design and development of employee programs including orientations, recruiting and interviewing processes, and performance management coaching and techniques.
  • Leadership development specifically in the areas of change management, reorganizations, reductions in force, and changes in leadership.
  • Development of human resource departments from the ground up, including setting the strategic direction for the HR team and hiring and managing a fully functioning team.
  • Leading organizations through vision, mission, values and goal creation and implementation.

HR Consultant

Background

Beth holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Beth has over 20 years experience in Human Resources.  She has worked in both the private and public sectors  for small and large companies.  She has experience both as an HR generalist and in Benefits Administration and Management.  While managing the benefits team for a public company with 5,000 employees nationwide she gained invaluable benefits and generalist experience.  Beth has worked in the retail, real estate development, and high-tech industries.

Michael Taormina
HR Consultant

Background

Michael Taormina has over 20 years of experience in Human Resource Management and Operations Management. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources, and a minor in Industrial Psychology, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. 

His background includes 13 years in the semiconductor industry for a Nasdaq 100 company where, as a corporate HR manager, he oversaw site HR managers from different geographic regions; helped develop company compensation and performance guidelines; revised and developed company policies and procedures; and managed employee relations, benefits, work comp and security. As an in-house certified trainer through Franklin Covey and Dale Carnegie, he delivered external and in-house developed employee and management training programs. 

Michael has also worked with small start-up companies helping them to develop and manage their administrative infrastructure, improve and oversee operations from production to transportation, and has helped develop and implement desired exit strategies when appropriate.
